Let Me Introduce Myself
I’m the voice behind this blog and our Newsletter. I know many of you already know me. However, a few don’t.
Hopefully many of you will recognize me as our Assistant Manager. I have been here at VCA Kennel Club Resort & Spa for over 25 years. Yes, that’s a long time! Obviously, I have seen a lot of changes around our resort in that time. It’s crazy to think that I have helped to take care of thousands of dogs and cats. Obviously, I love what I do and that’s the reason I am here. And with so many years of experience, I guess I can be considered a pet professional.
Since we’re family, many of you probably know a little about my personal life. For those who don’t, here are some details. I’m married and have three kids. My wife, Jennifer, worked here from 2005 until just this last January. We have three children–ages, 12, 12, and 10. Yes, two children are 12 and yet they are not twins! We have two boys (age 12 and 10) and we were lucky enough to adopt a sweet little girl six years ago who is only 3 days older than our oldest boy.
Since I’ve been exposed to pets here for so long, it isn’t surprising that I have quite a bit at home. We currently have five dogs and six cats. We also have three aquariums: one freshwater community tank, one freshwater with lots of live plants, and a saltwater community aquarium. Yes, you can call it a zoo!
I always have some type of project I’m working on–like tending to my vegetable garden, composting, or even remodeling a bathroom. I do like to take it easy and have fun, though. As I’m not the type to sit idle, I spend my time engrossed in my hobbies: looking through my telescope and running the model railroad that I built from scratch by myself. My favorite thing, though, is to spend time with my awesome family.
So what about this blog? We have featured a blog on our website since 2012 and have used it as a platform to publish information we hope you find interesting and useful. We also have used it to promote events that are happening here at VCA Kennel Club Resort & Spa. That’s essentially staying the same. In fact, I have collected quite a few ideas for future blog posts.
- Why keeping your dog on a leash is best for everyone
- Pets and the concept of time
- Grain-free foods and cardiomyopathy
- Why domesticating dogs and cats is one of the best things humankind has done
- Local hikes with dogs
- Camping with your dog
- Saying goodbye to your pet ( I know. Sad topic. But we’re all pet lovers. And I promise it will include information that may help you with the most difficult decision any pet person has to make. I’ve been there a few times and have learned a lot.)
I mentioned earlier that I’m also the voice behind our e-newsletter. I hope you [sign up] for that also as it includes a little bit different information and features any specials we may be offering. For our blog, my posts will typically be one topic and will be a little more in-depth.
